Advancing Diversity in Healthcare
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Define diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Identify at least 3 things that healthcare organizations must do to recruit & retain diverse talent,
build a diverse workforce, and confront systemic racism to help improve health equity in their
patient and employee populations and communities
- Discuss data from research regarding the state of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Initiatives
in the healthcare workforce
- Explain the difference between being nonracist and antiracist
Abstract: Research has proven that there is a strong link between healthcare workforce diversity,
equity, and inclusion (DE&I) and health equity outcomes in patients. During this presentation, we will
review relevant research findings and discuss strategies to advance diversity within the U.S. healthcare
system.
