David Allard [retired] Director, PA Bureau of Radiation Protection

David J. Allard, MS, CHP, FHPS is a medical health physicist and has been in the field of radiation protection for over 46 years. He is a recognized national and international expert, and after nearly 24 years, recently retired from his position as the Pennsylvania DEP’s Director of the Bureau of Radiation Protection. There he was responsible for the: accelerator, X-ray, radioactive materials, nuclear safety, radiological emergency response, facility decommissioning / site clean-up, environmental surveillance, low-level radioactive waste, TENORM management, and radon programs within the Commonwealth. He is still active in his professional organizations, and a pro bono expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
